If you’ve been to Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus, you’ve probably walked down Coventry Street. Unassuming and now unnoticed, the street was once a link between grandeur and theatre.
Once the heart of theatre land,
Now over run, over taken
By a strip club and chicken shop and cheap ticket booths.
No longer the grand causeway from the regency to the arts,
Former glory too far gone to be recognised.
As you tread bright light once shone,
You’re walking the way of the ghost
Of a time gone.
