Making my own way, with your help

A poem inspired by a phrase.

Making my own way, with your help

You call on me
To purge the pain.
Excavate what I’ve come to know
As gospel,
Spoken by peers and mentors
Alike.

When I was born
And born again
Into adulthood
Raindrops disorientated me from
What I had always trusted.

Now reinvigorated at the touch
Of kindred soul who graces me
With tenderness of kiss.
I will grow
And prosper.

Delighted in the movement of you
From toe to tip
Enchanting me.
Planting seed of futures
Joy.
