A year ago a disaster happened at the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh. I wrote a poem about it at the time, and today the Guardian has also done a very good, albeit graphic, interactive about conditions in the country.

No thought of children
burning in the flames
of a Bangladeshi factory,
clutching a pair
of unfinished jeans.

Their families fined a dollar
for non-delivery.
A week’s wage.

Here, you take your change
from the cashier,
open your wallet,
stuff in pennies and notes,
and check the receipt.

A winter sale,
or the tolerable pain
of others for £15.99.
